After several years of helping folks get started screen printing, I would say that one of the tougher things people take a while getting the knack of is coating the screen with emulsion. We've heard horror stories of customers using a quart of emulsion on only 3 screens (NO JOKE!) It seems that beginners have a hard time getting the right amount of pressure with the scoop coater against the screen. Some try the balancing act or holding the screen with one hand while trying to coat it with the other. Many times this gets messy and the screen isn't coated well. In order to properly coat the screen with emulsion, you need to have a steady grip on the scoop coater so you coat the screen with pressure and a fairly fast speed so you don't have runs or streaks in your emulsion. To properly accomplish this, you need to insure that the screen does not move during the coating process. This coating stand was developed to do just that.
